#FollowFriday: Is Pearl Mackie on Twitter?

Short answer: yes, Pearl Mackie, the Doctor’s new companion, Bill, is on Twitter.

Even shorter answer: yes.

#FollowFriday is our chance to shed some light on the Whoniversal corners of Twitter, and this time, we thought we’d address a question any self-respecting fan (with a Twitter account) is asking themselves. It’s been just less than a week since Pearl was announced as the latest person to join Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor in the TARDIS, and her number of followers has already exploded through the roof.

But Pearl already had a following from her time in theatre. In fact, she’s still appearing in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (based on the book by Mark Haddon, which gets its name from the Sherlock Holmes short story, Silver Blaze) until the middle of June – which is why social media is also filled with photos of excited fans waiting at the stage-door. And we take it Pearl is absolutely lovely and already embracing the crazy world of Doctor Who.

Clearly the cast and crew are excited to see her running through time and space too.

She’s not amassed many television credits so far – her love of theatre is obvious – but she’s very engaged with British drama.

Yep, she and Capaldi are clearly going to get on like a house on fire.

Duet, anybody?

More than anything, it’s lovely to see her so passionate about fandom already.

I think I’ll leave you with this tweet, posted shortly after her unveiling during Match of the Day Live.
