Out Now: Short Trips – This Sporting Life

The latest downloadable story, This Sporting Life is out now from Big Finish – and it promises to be a sumptuous slice of the Sixties.
Back when the DWC was in the middle of Big Finish Week, this is one audio adventure we enthused about, partly because the title’s a lovely allusion to William Hartnell’s role as “Dad” Johnson in the 1963 film, This Sporting Life – which impressed producer, Verity Lambert so much, she approached Hartnell for Doctor Who!
Here’s what the Big Finish story is about:

When the Doctor, Steven, and Dodo arrive in London in March 1966, World Cup fever is already underway. But disaster has struck: the trophy has been stolen, and the police are at a loss as to who could have taken it. When someone shoves part of the trophy into Steven’s hands, the travellers become embroiled in the case..

Written by Una McCormack and directed by Lisa Bowerman, This Sporting Life is read by Peter Purves, and is the fifth release of Short Trips‘ sixth series.
This Sporting Life is available now as a download only, for just £2.99. Next time, Anneke Wills reads a tale of post-war London…
