This month, we have – not one but – two exciting releases for the Doctor Who Main Range!
Second in the latest trilogy (which began with last month’s Order of the Daleks), the Doctor and Constance visit a mysterious archeological planet in Big Finish’s Absolute Power.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Two thousand years ago, all civilisation on the planet Teymah was wiped out in an AELE – an Anomalous Extinction Level Event. Now, the galactic entrepreneur Lyam Yce hopes, at last, to learn the reason why the ancient Teymahrians went extinct – by funding a huge archaeological dig.
While the Doctor probes a strange sphere found by Yce’s diggers, his companion, former Bletchley Park cryptographer Constance Clarke, agrees to help translate symbols written in the lost ancient language of the Teymahrians. And soon, they’ll learn that ancient Teymah’s secrets were best left buried deep beneath its shifting sands…
The four-part adventure stars Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor, with Miranda Raison as Constance Clarke, and Paul Reynolds (Colin Mathews in Steven Moffat’s Press Gang) as Lyam Yce. They’re joined by Jenny Bede as Florrie/Medical Doctor, Arian Nik as Ammar Elkady, Neil Edmond as Professor Aryan Wyke/Mine Worker, Gary Martin as Kohrbal, and Esther Hall as Pheenan.
Not only did Jamie Anderson direct it, he also took the opportunity to perform the writing duties of a full Main Range story for the first time! What would his Dad, Gerry – yes, the creator of Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, UFO, Stingray, Terrahawks, and so much more! – say about that?
Doctor Who – Absolute Power is available to buy on CD (£14.99) or Download (£12.99) exclusively from Big Finish. It goes on general sale at the end of January 2017. Also available now, Doctor Who – Quicksilver!
