It’s capitalism with a body count this week as the price of the very air we breathe proves too much for the crew of the fabulously named Chasm Forge, as the Doctor and Bill fight for Oxygen.

Written by Jamie Mathieson, the Doctor, Bill and Nardole answer a distress call in deep space, and find themselves trapped on board space station Chasm Forge. All but four of the crew have been murdered – and the dead are still walking!

In a future where oxygen is sold by the breath, and space suits are valued more highly than their occupants, the TARDIS crew battle for survival against the darkest evil of all…

We’re in space station under siege mode and to get us in the mood for deep space thrills, the BBC have unveiled some brand spanking new images and a clip from Saturday’s episode too.

The brief clip sees the space stations automated systems not taking the unauthorised use of oxygen too kindly as it decompresses the area to eject our heroes into the cold vacuum of outer space. And that’s not to mention the fate that has befallen the poor old TARDIS.

You can check out a full gallery of images for Oxygen below featuring crew members Tasker (Justin Salinger), Dahh-ren (Peter Caulfield), Abby (Mimi Ndiweni), Ivan (Kieran Bew), and, of course, the Doctor (Peter Capaldi), Bill (Pearl Mackie), and Nardole (Matt Lucas).

Doctor Who will return to our screens with Oxygen at 19:15 this Saturday on BBC One.

“capitalism with a body count” – you mean there’s another sort? 😉 I’m surprised they’re letting this out in election time!

But in proper Who terms, I’m loving the dark, grundgy look of this – what a contrast with the hopelessly over-lit, over made up, tartrazine era poor Peter Davison faced. Maybe they’re homaging the dystopian dark future of Blade Runner, with the new one on the way.
