Another Name Linked to the Role of the Thirteenth Doctor

Another week, another rumour about who will play the Thirteenth Doctor when Peter Capaldi regenerates. This one’s more interesting than those “Miranda Hart should be the Doctah” opinion pieces. It’s Luke Treadaway.
According to the Radio Times, which quotes a mysterious source which might or might not be a terraformer on the planet Messaline, Treadaway is “in the race” for the coveted part, alongside An Adventure in Space and Time‘s Sacha Dhawan.
You might know Luke for his leading role as James Bowen in the film, A Street Cat Named Bob, based on the book of the same name by Bowen, who was a busker accompanied by a loyal ginger cat called – you guessed it – Nigel Bob. His other notable parts include Vincent Rattrey in Fortitude, the Sky drama that starred Christopher Eccleston for a whole episode; the voice of Raymond Briggs in the beautiful Ethel & Ernest; and Christopher Boone in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. For that starring role, he won a 2013 Olivier Award.
The next Doctor will be chosen by incoming showrunner, Chris Chibnall; Head of BBC Drama, Piers Wenger (former executive producer for Doctor Who); new executive producer, Matt Strevens (producer of An Adventure in Space and Time); and Charlotte Moore, BBC Head of Content.
Personally, I’d love Dhawan to be the next Doctor. He’s a fantastic actor and would bring something really interesting to the series. Mind you, I’ve not really seen Treadaway in much, so can’t judge. But what do you think? Do either Luke or Sacha get your vote…?
