Here's What Time Twice Upon A Time Airs on Christmas Day

We finally know what time Twice Upon A Time, the 2017 Doctor Who Christmas special airs on BBC1.
The announcement was made yesterday by the official Twitter account: Peter Capaldi’s last regular appearance as the Twelfth Doctor will screen on BBC1 at 5:30pm on 25th December 2017.
This is basically in line with the transmission times of previous Christmas episodes: The Return of Doctor Mysterio (2016) screened at 5:45pm, while The Husbands of River Song (2015) began at 5:15pm. Of Capaldi’s festive specials, Last Christmas (2014) had the latest transmission time, at 6:15pm.
Twice Upon A Time is expected to have a duration of approximately 60 minutes, and introduce Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor at its conclusion. This won’t be the first regeneration to take place in an episode screened on Christmas Day: The Time of the Doctor saw Matt Smith pass the baton over to Capaldi back in 2013. David Tennant’s regeneration into Smith occurred in the concluding part of The End of Time, which screened on New Year’s Day 2010.
This year’s festive special also stars David Bradley as the First Doctor. Here’s the synopsis:

Two Doctors stranded in an Arctic snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. Enchanted glass people, stealing their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain (Mark Gatiss) destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story.

An uplifting new tale about the power of hope in humanity’s darkest hours, Twice Upon a Time marks the end of an era. But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning…

It’s also expected to be the last serial written by Steven Moffat, who first wrote for the show back in 2005 (The Empty Child/ The Doctor Dances) and became showrunner in time for 2010’s Series 5.
Prepare plenty of tissues, folks. This is going to be a very sad one.
Twice Upon A Time will air on BBC America, and in other foreign territories, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn more.
