It’s the perfect time to start a summer TV marathon for fans of Sherlock – the hit BBC show written by Doctor Who scribes, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss – because Series 4 is coming to Netflix UK next month!
Sherlock Series 4 aired in January 2017 on BBC1 with an average of 10 million viewers across the three stories. These were: The Six Thatchers, in which the grisly secrets of Mary Watson (Amanda Abbington) were exposed after someone began systematically destroying busts of the former UK Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher; The Lying Detective, which saw Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) in a drug-induced spiral, seemingly losing control of his life, and at the mercy of Culverton Smith (Amy’s Choice star, Toby Jones); and The Final Problem, where Sherlock, John Watson (Martin Freeman), and Mycroft (Mark Gatiss) are pitted against one another.
The Six Thatchers is directed by Rachel Talalay (Heaven Sent/ Hell Bent), while Nick Hurran (Asylum of the Daleks; The Day of the Doctor) helms the decidedly trippy The Lying Detective.
Sherlock Series 1- 3, plus the Christmas special, The Abominable Bride, are already available on Netflix, so the addition of these three further episodes makes for a complete run of the programme.
Series 4 will be on Netflix UK from 15th July. Other highlights coming to the streaming service next month include Jurassic Park, Finding Neverland, An Education, Bolt, and Orange is the New Black Season 6.
