Watch the Brand New Teaser Trailer for Doctor Who Series 11 Here!

We’ve got our first glimpse of Doctor Who Series 11, as a teaser aired on BBC1 today, during the World Cup final between Croatia and France.
This is the first time we’ve got a proper look at Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor, who debuted in a burst of regenerative energy at the conclusion of Christmas 2017’s Twice Upon A Time. She’ll be accompanied by Yasmin, Graham, and Ryan, played by Mandip Gill, Bradley Walsh, and Tosin Cole respectively. Sharon D. Clarke will also be a recurring character, playing Graham’s wife, not seen in the teaser.
And it is a teaser – this was specially-filmed footage intended to introduce this new TARDIS team.
Here’s the teaser we’ve waited a loooooong time for. In fact, it comes almost a whole year since Whittaker’s announcement as the Doctor, which came on 16th July 2017 (aired during Wimbledon).

Doctor Who Series 11 will be the first with Chris Chibnall (The Power of Three) as showrunner, joined by Matt Strevens (An Adventure in Space and Time) and Sam Hoyle (Broadchurch) as Executive Producers.
The upcoming season will be reduced to 10 episodes – albeit with a 65-minute opener – with writers still to be announced; we do at least know the directors:

  1. Jamie Childs
  2. Mark Tonderai
  3. Mark Tonderai
  4. Sallie Aprahamian
  5. Jennifer Perrott
  6. Sallie Aprahamian
  7. Jamie Childs
  8. Jennifer Perrott
  9. Jamie Childs
  10. Jamie Childs

Childs worked with Whittaker and Chibnall on the announcement clip last year.
Guest stars include Lee Mack in an undisclosed role; Asha Kingsley, who will play Sonia; and Alan Cumming as King James I. Sadly, Murray Gold has departed the show, giving way to Segun Akinola as the new composer.
We expect Series 11 to begin in October 2018, but if the mood takes you, you can pre-order it on DVD, Blu-ray, and steelbook already.
So what do you think, dear readers? Worth the wait? A bit of a letdown? Are you sufficiently excited for Series 11 now? Let us know in the comments section below. And if you’re not feeling it, don’t worry – the DWC will continue to cover all eras of Doctor Who, so there’s something here for everyone!
