Rosa received an official rating of 8.37 million viewers, according to figures released by the Broadcasting Research Audience Board, BARB.
The figures show that 8.09 million watched the episode where Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor came face to face with civil rights activist Rosa Parks, on a conventional TV set with a further 145,00 watching the episode on their PC, 71,000 watched on a Tablet device and 63,000 watched on a smartphone.
This makes Doctor Who the fourth most watched programme for the week ending Sunday 21st October. Toe tapping its way to the top of the chart was once again Strictly Come Dancing which pulled in an audience of 11.49 million.
Rosa also had an appreciation index score of 83.
For those keeping score, The Woman Who Fell to Earth had an official rating of 10.9 million with an audience appreciation index score of 83, while The Ghost Monument pulled in 9 million viewers with an AI score of 82 – which are impressive numbers.
The overnight viewing figures for Arachnids in the UK have seen a slight increase on last week’s score with the episode picking up 6.43 million viewers, a share of 29.3% of the total TV audience over Rosa’s figure of 6.39 million.
