The Tenth Doctor is back! Sort of! Not quite yet, but nearly!
Big Finish has announced that their Tenth Doctor Adventures set will be released in just one month’s time: 16th May 2016. And that’s very, very exciting.
This is the first time David Tennant and Catherine Tate have reprised their roles as the Doctor and Donna Noble together since New Year’s Day 2010 when the former regenerated, and poor Donna was left with a winning lottery ticket as a wedding gift (but without her memories of time and space). Tennant of course reappeared as the Time Lord in 2013’s 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor.
But next month, we can hear brand-new stories from this fantastic TARDIS team: Technophobia by Matt Fitton is set in a London slightly in the future where mankind is gradually losing its ability to use everyday technology; Jenny Colgan’s Time Reaver sees the Doctor and Donna arrive on Calibris, an entirely mechanical planet full of scoundrels where a deadly black market has opened up in a device known only as – guess what – the Time Reaver; and in Death and the Queen by James Goss, Donna is swept along in a fairytale romance and meets the man of her dreams in the beautiful land of Goritania. What can possibly go wrong? And why has the Doctor never heard of Goritania?
You can pre-order all three stories today, either individually or as part of the The Tenth Doctor Adventures Volume 1 – Limited Edition set exclusive to the Big Finish website. There are just 5,000 copies and includes exclusive artwork, photography, articles, a one-hour documentary featuring interviews with the stars and production team – alongside a bonus documentary examining the worlds of Doctor Who at the audio company.
We’re all very excited and a massive fight has broken out amongst the reviews team. Who will get to listen to the tales first? Mez has locked them all in Reviews HQ, but they’ve broken down the door and frothing at the mouth. Send help!
