This isn’t the first time that Doctor Who has filmed in there. Paul McGann made his debut as the Eighth Doctor in the TV Movie, which was filmed entire in Vancouver in 1996 and is due for release on Blu-Ray in September.
There are numerous sci-fi shows based in Vancouver, including: Supernatural, Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and The X-Files.
What’s interesting is director Rachel Talalay – who helmed Dark Water, Death in Heaven, Heaven Sent and Hell Bent – is a film professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and has previously directed episodes of Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow in the city. So could she be returning to helm an episode or two?
The Doctor Who crew are currently busy working on the second block of filming in Cardiff, Wales, comprising of Episode 3, written by Sarah Dollard, who wrote last series’ Face the Raven, and Episode 4, written by Doctor Foster creator Mike Bartlett.
Doctor Who Series 10 is due to air in Spring 2017.
