The Return of Doctor Mysterio To Screen at Cinemas in America

If you live in the USA, you might be in for a Christmas cracker: Doctor Who is returning to cinemas in America, for two days only!

Several stories, like The Day of the Doctor, Deep Breath, and the animation of The Power of the Daleks, have been shown on the big screen stateside, and now, The Return of Doctor Mysterio is getting the same treatment. The festive special will of course debut on Christmas Day on BBC America and BBC One, but American fans can witness it again on 27th and 29th December at  selected cinemas, courtesy of Fantom Events.

Screenings will include the 60-minute episode as well as two bonus featurettes, A New Kind of Hero, detailing how the production team created The Ghost (the superhero played by Justin Chatwin), and a short making-of documentary, Doctor Who Extra.

Written by Steven Moffat, The Return of Doctor Mysterio sees Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor and Matt Lucas’ Nardole teaming up with journalist, played by Charity Wakefield (and based on what we’ve seen, she’s wonderful already) to stop – what else? – an alien invasion. But what’s The Ghost got to do with it?

The list of participating cinemas is pretty extensive, but many will be disappointed. Check out if your nearest venue is taking part.

The screenings of The Return of Doctor Mysterio take place at 7pm, local time, on Tuesday 27th and Thursday 29th December 2016. Tickets are available now.
