Billie Piper and Catherine Tate Headline MCM London This Month!

Yay! It’s MCM London Comic Con time again! From 26th to 28th May you can experience loads of nerdalicious joyfulness at the ExCeL London, including a number of stars from the Whoniverse.
Billie Piper, in her first appearance at the London Comic Con, will be on hand to provide companionship duties alongside a returning Catherine Tate. There will also be a delegation from the Coal Hill Academy providing some <ahem> Class action.
This will be the second appearance for Class members at the London Comic Con, with Greg Austin, Sophie Hopkins, Fady Elsayed and Vivian Oparah returning to regale everyone with their tales of life at Coal Hill.
Paul Kasey will be appearing under the Star Wars banner, having played Admiral Raddus in Rogue One, but don’t forget he is one of the most called upon monster mashers (this is what I call them now. I just made it up) in modern Doctor Who, having appeared in at least 28 Doctor Who stories, and 18 Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures stories, as creatures ranging from Judoon, Cybermen, robot Santas, Slitheen, zombies, zygons, and 11 repeat appearances in Torchwood as the Weevil known as Janet… the list goes on! Check him out on Wikipedia to see just how much we owe to his creature performances over the past 12 years. He was even right there at the beginning as an Auton in Rose.
Also of note are the following…

  • Warwick Davies will be attending mostly in his Harry Potter and Star Wars capacity, but don’t forget his turn as Porridge in the story Nightmare in Silver
  • Jemma Redgrave will be there and we will all remember her as Kate Stewart, the Brigadier’s lovely and capable daughter-in-chief.

On the author front, in Author Corner, representing the Whoniverse there will be…

  • Richard Dinnick (Doctor Who: Time Lord Myths and Legends)
  • Jonathan Morris (Dr Who: Plague City)
  • Cavan Scott (Dr Who & The Shining Man)
  • Mike Tucker (Dr Who: Diamond Dogs) – we have also recently interviewed Mike and you will, of course, know that he is also famous for his sterling work with the Model Unit, providing model making and visual effects for Doctor Who and Red Dwarf and a whole cornucopia of other TV and film work.

There are still tickets available if you wish to get yourself down there to enjoy this slice of Whoey goodness – there’s a handy “Ticket Graph” that lists availability of different ticket types on the home page. Please note, though, that the price for autographs is rather steep: Catherine and Billie will both be £30 for an autograph and £48 for a “photo session”. The Class stars will be £15 and £18, respectively. So, photos and autographs with Catherine and Billie will cost you £156 if my mathematicals are correct!
You can check out the prices for all the autographs and photo sessions here.
