CBBC Celebrates 10 Years of The Sarah Jane Adventures This Sunday!

Can you believe it’s been 10 years since The Sarah Jane Adventures first aired?! To celebrate, the CBBC channel is airing three stories, comprised of six episodes in total, this Sunday (24th September 2017)!

The marathon begins at 14:10 and concludes at 16:50, and the three tales picked are pretty perfect for the occasion, actually. It begins with the second ever SJA serial, Revenge of the Slitheen, which kicked off the first series; it’s the first day of school for Maria Jackson (Yasmin Paige) and Luke Smith (Tommy Knight), and there, they meet Clyde Langer (Daniel Anthony) – and a few interesting characters from Raxacoricofallapatorius.

Written by Gareth Roberts (The Shakespeare Code; The Lodger), this is actually one of Russell T. Davies’ favourites!

This is followed, at 15:05, by The Wedding of Sarah Jane, also by Roberts. Obviously, it’s a momentous day for Sarah – but not solely because it’s her wedding. Because it’s also the day the Doctor comes back! Yes, the two-parter starred David Tennant, shortly before his regeneration, though he wasn’t the last Doctor to appear in the spin-off; Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor featured in Death of the Doctor in 2011, which also reintroduced Jo Grant (Katy Manning).

That doesn’t conclude the marathon – fortunately, one of the best SJA serials is played instead, beginning at 16:00. The Curse of Clyde Langer is an absolutely beautiful story, and if you’ve not seen it, this is the ideal opportunity.

Hopefully, this celebration will make many watch, rewatch, and reappraise the show as a whole; one of the shining corners of the Doctor Who universe.
