Undoubtedly one of of Classic Doctor Who‘s most impressive, and well-realised, designs is the Draconians from Frontier in Space (1973). And now, you can own one!
Robert Harrop has been creating hand-painted figurines for some 30-odd years, and the firm’s latest release is – you guessed it! – the Draconian Prince from that Third Doctor serial.
Designed and Sculpted in Shropshire, England, by Mike Rogers, this is an officially-licensed product that’s highly detailed and of very high quality; indeed, this writer owns a few Harrop Doctor Who designs and can attest to their excellence! The Draconian measures approximately 7.5 inches (192mm) tall, and is limited to just 200 editions. They’re individually numbered (with the unique number marked on the base of the model), and comes complete in a presentation box with information card and a Certificate of Authenticity.
Frontier in Space came in Doctor Who‘s 10th anniversary year, and sadly saw the last appearance of the original Master, Roger Delgado: the 6-part serial featured Jon Pertwee’s incarnation of the Time Lord, alongside Katy Manning as Jo Grant, fight to reveal the truth behind a conspiracy that threatened to have the Draconian empire at war with mankind. Frankly, it was brilliant. And so is Harrop’s model! Feast your eyes…
Robert Harrop’s previous designs have included Davros from Genesis of the Daleks, Varga from The Ice Warriors, and Alpha Centauri from the two Peladon classics (all sold out), and, still available, a Weeping Angel from Blink, SV7 from Robots of Death, and Pyramids of Mars‘ Sutekh the Destroyer.
The limited edition Draconian is available now, priced £60, but do allow up to two months for delivery.
