The Doctor Who spin-off, Class is being revived by audio company, Big Finish for at least two boxsets – and will guest star Sophie Aldred as Ace!
Class: The Audio Adventures will also see the Daleks return to Coal Hill School.
This has been rumoured for some time now, but the final announcement comes in this Thursday’s issue of Doctor Who Magazine, which confirms the return of Katherine Kelly as Miss Quill, Greg Austin as Charlie, Fady Elsayed as Ram, Sophie Hopkins as April, Vivian Oparah as Tanya, and Jordan Renzo as Matteusz.
The series will further be welcoming back Blair Mowart as the series composer.
Class: The Audio Adventures – Volume 1 will be comprised of:
- Gifted by Roy Gill
- Life Experience by Jenny Colgan
- Tell Me You Love Me by Scott Handcock
Meanwhile, Volume 2 is made up of:
- Everyone Loves Reagan by Tim Foley (or possibly Tom Foley)
- Now You Know by Tim Leng
- In Remembrance by Guy Adams
Both sets will be released in August 2018.
We do feel a tad guilty announcing this before Doctor Who Magazine and Big Finish, but Greg Austin confirmed the news on Twitter anyway, so it won’t be long until all news outlets will be reporting this.

Class was released on BBC iPlayer in 2016, written by Patrick Ness (A Monster Calls) with the first episode guest starring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor. However, it was cancelled by the BBC, leaving a few dangling plot threads, notably April becoming Shadow Kin, and the Weeping Angels being in charge of Coal Hill School.
The spin-off show wasn’t universally loved, but offered a lot more than people gave it credit for. And if you’re unsure, look at what Big Finish has done with Torchwood; that should give you plenty of confidence! It will, of course, be fantastic to hear Ace back at the location of Remembrance of the Daleks, alongside those meddlesome monsters from Skaro.
We expect pre-orders for the two volumes to open later this week, as DWM hits shelves.
