A new trailer for Doctor Who Series 11 – the first to feature Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor – was revealed at the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) and as with everything Doctor Who, it split opinion. We like to think that the DWC is something of a sounding board for as many (reasonable and polite) views as possible, and so we’re turning to the PodKast With A K to find out what they thought of the trailer too.
The footage didn’t shed a whole lot of light on what’s coming up – entirely understandable, considering we’re a few months away from transmission – instead focusing on the introduction of companions, Mandip Gill as Yasmin, Tosin Cole as Ryan, and Bradley Walsh as Graham. And by “companions”, I perhaps mean “new best friends”…
DWC contributors, Christian Cawley and James McLean recorded the show fresh from seeing the glut of news: profile images, promises of no two-parters, and, ahem, a new sonic screwdriver, which raised certain not-very-child-friendly questions. Well, one question, to be more precise. You know the one. Go on then – have a listen!
So that’s what they think. Judging by previous comments on the DWC, readers are split between thinking it was a solid teaser, and thinking it was dull, dull, dull.
I guess we’ll see how fondly we look back on the trailer post-Series 11.
