The second episode of series 11, The Ghost Monument, has a consolidated 7-day rating of 9 million viewers according to figures released by the Broadcasting Research Audience Board, BARB.
While 8.67 million watched on a conventional TV set, the figure rises to 9 million when you factor in additional devices. The BARB 4-Screen Dashboard shows that an additional 184,000 watched on their PC, 83,000 watched on a Tablet device and 64,000 watched on a smartphone – making Doctor Who the 4th most watched programme of the week ending 14th October.
Topping the chart for that week were the two editions of Strictly Come Dancing, with the Saturday show getting 12.03 million watching. Channel 4 had a rare entry into the top ten at number 3 with The Great British Bake Off getting 9.22 million viewers.
The episode also had an Appreciation Index score of 82, scoring higher with women than men and higher again in the under 35 age subsets.
Despite the drop viewers, those are still some impressive numbers and while the early unofficial figures for Rosa are less than the previous two episodes – 6.39 million viewers, a share of 29.6% of the total TV audience – the episode is still the fifth most watched programme that week (in actuality, most of the programmes were down on the previous week), with that number expected to rise considerably when the other BARB 4-Screen Dashboard figures are factored in.
