Organisers of this year’s Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo have secured a major coup with their announcement that Christopher Eccleston will be making his first convention appearance in Canada this September.
Eccleston will be appearing on Saturday 21st September, the middle day of the 3-day extravaganza which runs at the Edmonton Expo Centre. Head honchos of the event are justifiably proud of securing the Ninth Doctor, having lured both David Tennant and Matt Smith to last year’s con.
A line-up likely to appeal to a wide spread of genre fans also includes Star Trek’s George Takei, Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Stranger Things), Patrick Warburton (Lemony Sincket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events), Robin Lord Taylor (Gotham), and Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca, or if you will Newbacca in the new Star Wars movies).
Christopher Eccleston was well-known for resisting this kind of event for many years but recently dipped his toe in the water, thrilling fans of the most tortured incarnation of the Time Lord at last year’s London Film and Comic Con. Those planning their diaries will already have noted he’s to make a return visit to London for the 2019 event, appearing on July 27th.
Prices for Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo start at $20 for a Single Day Adult Pass (lower rates apply for children), or $45 for a Family Pass. As is the norm, there are VIP and Premium packages for those prepared to cough up. Keep an eye on the event website for further announcements and autograph/photo op prices.
