The BBC has released the first trailer for the upcoming adaptation of Dracula, a short series from the makers of Sherlock, aka. Doctor Who‘s Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. And ooh, it looks wonderful!
The teaser came at the Dracula panel at this last weekend’s MCM London Comic Con, attended by Moffat and Gatiss, as well as producer, Sue Vertue.
Here’s something to sink your teeth into…
The titular role is played by Danish star, Claes Bang, who says:
“I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Dracula, especially when the script is in the hands of the incredible talents of Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss and the team responsible for Sherlock. I’m so excited that I get to dig in to this iconic and super-interesting character. Yes he’s evil, but there’s also so much more to him; he’s charismatic, intelligent, witty and sexy. I realise that there’s a lot to live up to with all the amazing people that have played him over the years, but I feel so privileged, to be taking on this incredible character.”
The miniseries, comprised of 3 90-minute episodes, also stars Sacha Dhawan (An Adventure in Space and Time), as well as Big Finish’s John Heffernan and Sherlock‘s Jonathan Aris.
A release date is yet to be announced, though there are rumours it’ll start over the Christmas period…
