John Barrowman is heading into the Australian jungle for ITV’s hit reality TV show, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
And yes, we’re surprised too.
For the uninitiated, I’m A Celebrity… finds an array of famous faces (well, mostly) camping in the jungle for three weeks while facing daily trials to compete for food and further treats. Some fans will recall Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker in a previous series.
Barrowman promised:
“I know it’s a game and I’m not going to be a misery.”
So what’s he afraid of?
“Confined spaces, jumping out of planes, and I am allergic to shellfish.”
Tempting fate, much? And of course, celebs often arrive in the jungle after a parachute jump from a plane…
Other celebrities taking part include DIY: SOS‘ Nick Knowles; EastEnders‘ Rita Simons; Emily Atack (The Inbetweeners); football manager, Harry Redknapp; and The Chase‘s Anne Hegerty.
A life-long Doctor Who fan, Barrowman played Captain Jack Harkness in the main series and its spin-off, Torchwood; he first appeared in The Empty Child/ The Doctor Dances (2005), before temporarily joining the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler in the TARDIS. He further appeared in serials like The Sound of Drums/ Last of the Time Lords (2007), The Stolen Earth/ Journey’s End (2008), and The End of Time (2010). He was due to be in 2011’s A Good Man Goes To War, but had to turn down the offer due to other work commitments.
He’s since reprised the role of Harkness on audio for Big Finish.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! starts on ITV on Sunday 18th November 2018.
