If you like the DC Television output or are a fan of Michelle Gomez, we’ve got good news: it’s been announced that the Missy actress will be starring in the upcoming third series of Doom Patrol as the DC Comics villain, Madame Rouge.
Filming is already underway for the third series, and Gomez has posted a few photos from behind the scenes of Doom Patrol. She has also starred in The Flight Attendant and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, where she played Madam Satan (and was amazing in it!).
And her character won’t just be a guest appearence — she’ll be a series regular alongside the main cast including Matt Bomer, Diane Guerrero, and April Bowlby. She’ll arrive at Doom Manor with a mission, but she can’t remember what it is. Doom Patrol has become known for its strangeness and that seems to be continuing with this new series.
And Gomez isn’t the only Doctor Who star to feature in the show: Timothy Dalton and Jovian Wade, who featured as Rassilon and Rigsy respectively in Doctor Who, star as The Chief and Cyborg in the show.
For those who don’t know what Doom Patrol is about, it takes a ragtag band of characters who have all been through serious trauma, including characters like Elasti-Woman, Negative Man, Crazy Jane, Robotman, and Cyborg. Every one of them has had something horrible happen that gave them their powers, but under the guidance of The Chief, they investigate strange happenings.
Doom Patrol isn’t the only role that Gomez has had in the DC Universe; she also played a minor role in Gotham, working as a go-between for a number of Batman’s arch nemeses. It wasn’t a major role and you do get the feeling she was still playing Missy in Gotham, but nonetheless, Doom Patrol won’t be her first foray into the comic book universe.
Not much else is known about Gomez’s role or indeed the third series at the moment but it can be expected to air on Starz, an Amazon Prime add-on probably towards the end of the year.
Gomez is always excellent in everything she’s in, so I’m certainly excited about her appearance here!
