Russell T Davies Confirms We’ll Find Out Who Mrs Flood Is in the Next Series of Doctor Who

Doctor Who showrunner, Russell T Davies, has confirmed that we will find out who Mrs Flood is in Series 15 of the show, due to air next year.

Reflecting on the end of Empire of Death, which saw the character dressed up like former companion Romana and breaking the fourth wall, Davies told SFX magazine:

“[Actress, Anita Dobson] had us all roaring with laughter at that scene; she is so brilliant. I promise you next year, great answers to that, great solutions.

“Probably because she’s wearing white fur, people are going to think she’s Romana, aren’t they? I will leave that echoing in the pages of SFX. I promise you answers to that. Again, that’s gonna be next year. I cannot tell you how much joy and fun we had with this story… Anita Dobson’s got the best stuff ever coming up. Glorious.”

Indeed, Romana wore a big white fur coat in her first adventure, The Ribos Operation, so she’s either supposed to look reminiscent of her or of East 17.

The mystery of Mrs Flood, neighbour of companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), began in last year’s Christmas special, The Church on Ruby Road, and she’s appeared in a couple of episodes since then. Most chillingly, however, she recognised the TARDIS and was nonplussed when seeing it dematerialise.

So who is she? We’ll find out in Doctor Who Series 15, due to screen in early 2025.
