Guest Cast and Synopsis Revealed for Doctor Who: Lucky Day

This weekend’s Doctor Who welcomes back Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday, and the BBC has released a brief — and we mean very brief — synopsis for Lucky Day, alongside the guest cast list.

The episode, written by Pete McTighe (Kerblam!) and directed by Peter Hoar (A Good Man Goes to War), also introduces Jonah Hauer-King as Ruby’s boyfriend, Conrad Clark.

Here’s the synopsis:

Ruby Sunday faces life back on earth without the Doctor. But when a dangerous new threat emerges, can Ruby and UNIT save her new boyfriend, Conrad, from the terrifying Shreek?

Aside from Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra, here’s the rather extensive cast list:

  • Jemma Redgrave: Kate Lethbridge-Stewart
  • Ruth Madeley: Shirley Anne Bingham
  • Alexander Devrient: Colonel Christofer Ibrahim
  • Michelle Greenidge: Carla Sunday
  • Angela Wynter: Cherry Sunday
  • Faye McKeever: Louise Miller
  • Benjamin Chivers: Young Conrad
  • Kirsty Hoiles: Moira Clark
  • Gethin Alderman: The Shreek
  • Kareem Alexander: Jordan Lang
  • Madison Stock: Elsa
  • Paddy Stafford: Sparky
  • Blake Anderson: Jack
  • Aoife Gaston: Michelle
  • Paul Jerricho: Alfie
  • Michael Woodford: Derek
  • Tina Gray: Audrey
  • Reeta Chakrabarti: Herself
  • Joel Dommett: Himself
  • Alex Jones: Herself
  • Selorm Adonu: Influencer 1
  • Calypso Cragg: Influencer 2
  • James Craven: Influencer 3
  • Aidan Cook: The Vlinx
  • Nicholas Briggs: Voice of the Vlinx
  • Anita Dobson: Mrs Flood

So we’ve presenters, Reeta Chakrabarti, Alex Jones, and Joel Dommett as themselves, hinting to some aspect of the contemporary story being covered on TV, similar to how previous episodes like Aliens of London and The Stolen Earth saw events featuring on the news; so too the addition of social media influencers.

Faye McKeever will also be back as Ruby’s birth-mother, Louise Miller, alongside her adopted family members, Michelle Greenidge as Carla Sunday and Angela Wynter as Cherry Sunday.

Plus, we’ve various members of UNIT, reintroducing them to Doctor Who, which is pertinent given that they’ll be back in The War Between the Land and the Sea, co-written by McTighe.

Lucky Day will air on BBC1 on Saturday 3rd May at 7:10pm, but will be available on iPlayer from 8am that same day, as well as streaming internationally on Disney+.
