Ncuti Gatwa Regrets Never Fighting Daleks in Doctor Who; Implies He’d Return to “Do That”

Ncuti Gatwa, who played the Fifteenth Doctor, has revealed one of his regrets about his time on Doctor Who, but for those of us paying attention, it won’t come as a surprise.

The actor, who is about to star as Christopher Marlowe opposite Edward Bluemel as William Shakespeare in the play, Born With Teeth, was on The One Show on Wednesday (30th July 2025), and said:

“I never got to fight a Dalek. A Dalek or a Cyberman. I mean, just the crux of Doctor Who. So, might do that! Might go fight a Dalek!”

The latter bit was said rather awkwardly (though this being The One Show, the whole thing is really quite awkward as interviews tend to do a bit all over the place), so it’s almost as if he’s not sure how much he can say.

Does this mean he’ll come back to the programme to meet the Daleks and/or Cybermen? We hope so.

But then, everything is up in the air in the world(s) of Doctor Who right now; it seems that few are happy with Gatwa’s regeneration story, The Reality War, and many are irked he never faced at least the Daleks, something all other incarnations of the Doctor have done on screen, except Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor and David Tennant’s Fourteenth — the Daleks were heard at the start of The TV Movie, and the Fourteenth Doctor did meet Davros in a short charity skit; otherwise, both Doctors fought the Daleks in other mediums.

We don’t even know if the person the Fifteenth Doctor regenerated into, Billie Piper, is even the Doctor!

We imagine lots of discussions are taking place behind the scenes. Might these include Ncuti? Who knows? We shall see, in time…
