The Stars of Time convention returns to Weston-super-Mare tomorrow (Saturday 16th August 2025), and features three stars of Doctor Who — Bonnie Langford, Brian Blessed, and Wendy Padbury!
This is the first time Langford and Blessed have come to the event, housed at the Winter Gardens on the town’s sea front (though formerly held at the Helicopter Museum and Tropicana), though it’s always a pleasure to see Padbury and a sign that she enjoys coming to the seaside convention.
They’ll be joined by Melvin Hayes, star of It Ain’t Half Hot, Mum and The Young Ones, who was married to Wendy in the 1970s and 1980s.
Bonnie, of course, plays Mel Bush, a companion to the Sixth and Seventh Doctors (Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy respectively), and who returned opposite David Tennant’s Fourteenth and Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctors in the most recent era of the series.
Brian Blessed, meanwhile, is perhaps best known for Flash Gordon, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, but Doctor Who fans will recognise him as King Yrcanos in The Trial of a Time Lord: Mindwarp (with a recap cameo in The Ultimate Foe).
And Wendy played Second Doctor companion, Zoe Her(r)iot, starring alongside Patrick Troughton and, as fellow companion, Jamie McCrimmon, Frazer Hines.
Sadly, Sylvester McCoy has had to cancel, but we hope he’ll come back at some point soon because he’s a wonderful, caring human and we miss seeing him on the convention circuits.
The Stars of Time convention comes to Weston this Saturday, and you can find out more on its official site.
