Murray Gold Hopes We’ll Have Three New Doctor Who Soundtrack CDs Out This Year

Composer, Murray Gold, says that there are plans to release three further Doctor Who soundtracks very soon — perhaps even this year.

When asked whether we can expect albums for the 60th anniversary specials (The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder, and The Giggle), Series 14 and Series 15, Gold gave a resounding “yes”, and went on:

“I’m a man of my word, as I said. We are on that. I think we might be… that will be 2026, I think. Hopefully all three.”

Those CDs would comprise the entire Fourteenth and Fifteenth Doctors’ (David Tennant and Ncuti Gatwa, respectively) eras — unless one or both show up in this year’s Christmas special, of course.

This would be vastly different to the Doctor Who Series 10 soundtrack (Peter Capaldi’s last as the Twelfth Doctor); by the time that was released, the first second of eternity had passed, i.e. it only happened last year.

It’s funny, in a way, as fans have been wanting the Series 10 score for so many years, but with the most recent seasons, there doesn’t seem to be a great deal of excitement or calling for their availability on digital and on CD; yet those are the ones likely to be brought into production so soon after airing.

You also have to wonder whether Gold wants these to come out sooner rather than later because the show’s (and the brand’s) future is so uncertain right now.

Either way, a lot of Who fans will be very happy to complete a collection!
