Writers Announced for Anthology Title, The Target Storybook

Terrance Dicks has joined an array of Doctor Who scribes writing for the upcoming The Target Storybook.

The book will be comprised of short stories intended to expand on Doctor Who episodes in much the same way as classic Target Books, although won’t be straight adaptations of any broadcast adventure.

Dicks was a prolific contributor to the original range, and further wrote and acted as Script Editor for numerous TV serials including Horror of Fang Rock, State of Decay, and The Five Doctors.

The Target Storybook will also include entries from Gareth Roberts (The Lodger; Closing Time); Simon Guerrier (The Pirate Loop); Jenny Colgan (In the Blood); children’s author, Susie Day; Una McCormack (The Way Through the Woods); Steve Cole (Ten Little Aliens); George Mann (Engines of War); and Mike Tucker (The Silurian Gift).

However, some sources have added more writers, including two stars of the show – Colin Baker (the Sixth Doctor) and Matthew Waterhouse (Adric) – as well as Vinay Patel (Demons of the Punjab); Joy Wilkinson (The Witchfinders); broadcaster, Matthew Sweet; author and BBC Writer’s Room finalist, Beverly Sanford; and Jacqueline Rayner (The Last Dodo). Those names are still to be confirmed by the BBC.

Here’s the blurb:

In this exciting collection of all-new stories, you’ll find unique spin-off tales from some of your favourite Doctor Who episodes across the history of the series. Prequels, sequels, letters and first-hand accounts from favourite characters, including selections from the Doctor’s 500-Year-Diary (and 1,200-Year Diary, and 2,000-Year Diary).

Each story in The Target Storybook expands in thrilling ways upon a popular Doctor Who adventure. With contributions from show luminaries past and present, the Target Storybook is a once-in-a-lifetime tour round the wonders of the Whoniverse.

The Target Storybook is released on 24th October 2019, with a £16.99 RRP.
