The last day of October may be Hallowe’en, and even the day when Britain crashes out of the European Union – but it’s also the day of Doctor Who – A Voyage in Space and Time!
Presented by the DWC’s very own Frank Danes (hey, that’s me!), Doctor Who – A Voyage in Space and Time is a free event in St Albans Cathedral, and part of the Cathedral’s Space Voyage celebration week. To quote the Cathedral’s website:
Doctor Who – A Voyage in Space and Time will take you on an interactive journey about all things Doctor Who – from screen history, the battle between good and evil and monsters made of bubble wrap! As part of this special afternoon, you can also meet and take photos with some of the series most iconic characters, including real-life Daleks.
A talk! Questions! Quizzes! Monsters! Prizes! Daleks! Lots of Daleks! And, in proof that Sontaran cloning is real, DWC writer Simon Danes, my brother and identical twin, will be there too.
The event ties in with my book, Six Decades of Adventure in Space and Time – A Social, Cultural and Screen History of Doctor Who. In the DWC’s review, Rick Lundeen said:
“There are also a few political points that are made regarding how the Beeb is viewed by different parties and how that has affected the show through time. I thought I knew just about everything of note about Doctor Who at this point but no, no, no. I did indeed learn more, which, frankly, was surprising after everything I’d read over the last 40 years about the series.”
When Frank delivered a similar talk at Ely Cathedral in May, as part of their Science Festival, 450 local Whovians turned up – as well as clockwork robots, Daleks, Cybermen, and gas mask zombies.
Hope to see you there!
Further details are available on the Cathedral’s website.
Suitable for all ages.
Free – donations are most welcome.
My book will be on sale at the event at the reduced price of £10 (RRP £15.95).
An extra special Halloween treat!
