Tomorrow (30th May 2020), fans will get together to tweet along to a double-bill rewatch of New Earth and Gridlock, respectively from Series 2 and 3 – but it will be the penultimate watch-along.
These joint rewatches of Doctor Who episodes have been a real highlight of the lockdown (resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic), but, of course, all good things come to an end, and organiser, Emily Cook, has confirmed that we’ve only got two more to enjoy.
Writer, Russell T Davies, and Novice Hame actress, Anna Hope will be taking part in the tweet-along for both New Earth and Gridlock, which, although don’t for a two-parter, are linked, with the latter acting as a sequel to the former (and of course, New Earth is a sequel to The End of the World).
We’ll also be treated to a new sequel to these stories, written by Davies, which promises to feature “a secret that must be told…”
Previous watch-alongs have included Rose, The Day of the Doctor, and Listen. We wonder what the final tweet-along will be. Any ideas, DWC readers? Personally, I’d love to see The Pandorica Opens/ The Big Bang, but it’s doubtful… unless it happens on 26th June! I think it’s likely to be an episode Steven Moffat will be able to tweet along to. Ideally, with Davies, as the pair together are superb fun.
With that in mind, surely it’s got to be Blink?!
The rewatch begins on 30th May 2020 at 7pm with New Earth and continues at 8pm with Gridlock, and if you want to take part, use the hashtag #NewNewYork.
