Ncuti Gatwa Promises He’s Staying in Doctor Who for a Long Time Yet: “I’m Not Going Anywhere”

It sounds like Ncuti Gatwa has settled into the TARDIS, saying he wants to stay in Doctor Who for the foreseeable future.

When asked how long this new era of Doctor Who will last (which seems pre-emptive, seeing as it’s barely started yet, but that’s normally the way), Gatwa replied:

“[I’m] not going anywhere soon.”

And showrunner, Russell T Davies, is sure of his lead star too, enthusing:

“I can sit here utterly certain that, in five years’ time, he’ll be leading a movie franchise and security will be holding me back as I go, ‘He promised me a ticket!'”

Of course, we’re used to hearing this sort of things about Doctors, but it’s still great to hear that: i) Ncuti is going to be the Fifteenth Doctor for a while, so the future is secured; and ii) that Davies has such faith in him, so we should too.

And though we’ve only seen the Fifteenth Doctor in The Giggle and The Church on Ruby Road, we’ll see a lot more of this incarnation of the Time Lord from just a few days’ time, when Series 14 premieres, on Saturday 11th May 2024, or 10th May on Disney+ where available.
