New Writer Revealed for Doctor Who Series 15?

It’s rumoured that Nigerian poet and playwright, Inua Ellams, has co-written an episode of Doctor Who Series 15, due to screen later this year on BBC1, iPlayer, and Disney+.

Ellams has reportedly written episode five of the upcoming season of the show, alongside showrunner, Russell T Davies. Neither the BBC nor Inua has confirmed this, however; we don’t expect any confirmations until closer to the airdate of Series 15, which is likely this spring.

Born in 1984, Ellams escaped religious persecution in his native Nigeria and came to the UK in 1996, and embraced his creative side, releasing several poetry books including Candy Coated Unicorns and Converse All Stars, #Afterhours, and The Actual. His plays include The 14th Tale (which was awarded a Fringe First at the Edinburgh International Theatre Festival), The Half-God of Rainfall, and An Evening with an Immigrant. He was appointed an Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to the arts in 2023.

So he sounds like a great pick to join Doctor Who‘s writing crew!

Doctor Who Series 15 will be the second season to feature Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor, and adds Varada Sethu as new companion, Belinda Chandra, to the TARDIS team. Millie Gibson will also return as Ruby Sunday in the run of episodes, though we don’t know in how many she will actually appear.

We don’t know too much about the next season of Doctor Who just yet, except that Davies has written most of the series. However, Sharma Walfall is said to also be co-writing an episode with Russell, likely episode three.
