Synopsis and Cast Revealed for This Weekend’s Doctor Who — The Well

The BBC has released the synopsis for The Well, this weekend’s episode of Doctor Who and the third in Series 15, starring the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu).

And the episode looks to be a darker story, reminiscent of The Impossible Planet/ The Satan Pit. The Well is written by showrunner, Russell T Davies, and Sharma Angel-Walfall, who’s new to Doctor Who.

Here’s what to expect:

Stranded far in the future, on the tough, brutal, inhospitable Planet 6-7-6-7, the Doctor and Belinda team up with a platoon of troopers who have been sent to investigate Colony Base 15 – a mining operation that they’ve lost contact with. Arriving at the installation they soon discover the colony has only one survivor. Something is very wrong — and that something soon reveals itself to be at the heart of the Doctor’s worst nightmares. The TARDIS duo must face absolute terror to discover the truth.

The Well is directed by Amanda Brotchie, who helmed the previous episode, Lux.

Guest actor, Rose Ayling-Ellis plays Aliss Fenly, and the actress describes her character as:

“[A] determined mother, desperate to find her daughter. Emotional, scared, holding it together – but barely. She’s raw and real.”

Here’s the rest of the cast:
