Comparatively little is known about The Well, but co-writer, Sharma Angel-Walfall, has teased what to expect from the next episode of Doctor Who Series 15.
And it sounds like we’re in for a scarier story than previous stories in the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) era…
The writer says:
“[The audience] can expect to be wowed. There’s an element of fear in there, it’s got that kind of scary, on the edge of your seat kind of vibe. It’s got a lot of heart and warmth and beautiful characters.”
The Well guest stars Rose Ayling-Ellis, who is best known for winning Strictly Come Dancing, for her work for the deaf and hearing-impaired community, and for appearing in EastEnders. Appearing on Scott Mills’ BBC Radio 2 show, Ayling-Ellis said:
“I got painted-on eyebags. I look like a mess. I’ve got greasy hair. Like, I never felt so gross in my whole life, acting for the whole month!”
Nonetheless, she seemed to enjoy her time there, and showrunner, Russell T Davies, says:
“Oh my God, she gives so much that your heart absolutely goes out to her. I’m so lucky to talk about her, and to work with her.”
The Well also stars Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra, Christopher Chung as Cassio Palin-Paleen, and Caoilfhionn Dunne as Shaya Costallion.
The episode airs on BBC1, and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer and Disney+, tomorrow (Saturday 26th April 2025).
