The BBC is celebrating Doctor Who Day, aka 23rd November 2025, the 62nd anniversary of the show, with an interactive treasure hunt and a YouTube livestream, alongside an episode of The Whoniverse Show.
Granted, no one really celebrates the 62nd anniversary of a TV show except fanatics, but… well, we’re fans, so fanatical by name and nature, so we were hoping for something; nonetheless, anyone hoping for an announcement about missing episodes is likely to be disappointed. That isn’t to say we won’t get news about missing episodes or indeed anything else, but we advise against holding your breath. Actually, the more you can avoid holding your breath when not under water, the better.
So the anniversary events focus around Vworp Around the World, a digital, five-mission treasure hunt in which fans track down the TARDIS. This seems to be in partnership with the app, what3words, which gives accurate locations down to a metre. You just have to log into the UNIT HQ section of the official Doctor Who website and enter the discovered TARDIS locations to unlock exclusive digital prizes, including deleted scenes, unseen scripts, and behind-the-scenes content.
Three missions are already live, while the fifth will follow on 20th November.
The anniversary will also be celebrated with a 24-hour YouTube livestream that showcases every era of Doctor Who, hosted by Christel Dee. We wonder whether she’ll be watching them all on double speed, seeing as she finds 20th Century Who boring… She’ll also presumably be taking part in a special episode of The Whoniverse Show.
As if that weren’t enough, the Who website will also be adding “Season 2”, i.e. Doctor Who Series 15, scripts to its archive. We doubt The Reality War, butchered or otherwise, will be included.
So there we have it: celebrate Doctor Who Day with some divisive content that might make you scream. Enjoy, DWC readers!
