Here’s Our First Look at Newly-Discovered Episodes of The Daleks’ Master Plan, Lost for Over 60 Years

Unless you’ve been living under a rock on Skaro, you’ll know that two episodes of 1965-66 classic, The Daleks’ Master Plan, have been found.

The Nightmare Begins and Devil’s Planet have been missing for over 60 years, but were discovered last year and revealed only last week in a “ramshackle, eclectic” collection left to preservation charity, Film is Fabulous!; these are episodes one and three, respectively, of the First Doctor (William Hartnell) story, The Daleks’ Master Plan.

And here’s our first look at the episodes, courtesy of the BBC, unseen by the UK public since their first airing in the 1960s!

Exciting, isn’t it? “Brand new” William Hartnell! “Brand news” 1960s Daleks!

And of course, the first Doctor Who appearance of Nicholas Courtney, here playing Bret Vyon, who would go on to play the Brigadier, on and off a central part of the show between the Second and Seventh Doctors’ eras.

It’s incredible seeing even these short-ish clips again… so imagine what it’s going to be like when we get to see the full episodes!

So when will that be? We’ve no word on physical releases, nor when they’ll be available to foreign territories like America, but fans in the UK will be able to enjoy the episodes on BBC iPlayer from next month (April 2026).

Not long to go…
