They’re back!
In case you’ve been living under a rock on the dark side of the moon and missed the glorious news, David Tennant and Catherine Tate are set to return as the Doctor and Donna Noble in three brand new audio adventures from Big Finish – and they’ve been chatting away in a new video interview about just what we can expect.
Speaking to the Radio Times, the pair, whose triumphant return, Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Adventures are released May 16th, are certainly glad to be back aboard the TARDIS, but do they still remember the characters after all this time?
“It’s a bit like riding a bike,” says Tate in the new video. “It’s a character that you didn’t think you were going to necessarily play again, but she’s in there and you happily bring her out,” before Tennant chimes in, “Dust her down!”
Then there’s the episodes themselves, the third of which, Death and the Queen by James Goss, has Tennant particularly excited.
“It’s in quite a heightened fairytale world. You think it’s going to be almost a rather farcical story, that actually goes to some quite bleak places,” he said.
Bleak fairytales aside, there’s the small matter of time itself – and it sounds like the post-Who years haven’t been too kind to the pair.
“People have started saying that to me ‘Oh I grew up with you as Doctor Who!’ I’m thinking, ‘It was only the other day I was doing it, what are you talking about?'” said Tennant.
“We’re on audio now, they can’t see how much we’ve aged,” Tate says consolingly…except the is a video interview…
“Turn that camera off!” says Tennant.
Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Adventures is available from Big Finish on May 16th.
