With Series 10 well underway, news has been announced of the DVD and Blu-ray releases for Peter Capaldi’s final series as the Doctor.
As has been the pattern in recent years, the series will be released in two parts initially with a complete version containing a more substantial extras package later in the year. Both Parts 1 and 2 are now available for pre-order from Amazon, iTunes and HMV.
Part 1 will be out on 29th May and will feature episodes 1-6 of the current run (The Pilot, Smile, Thin Ice, Knock Knock, Oxygen, and Extremis).
The Doctor is keen to show his new friend, Bill Potts, the wonders of the universe, but loveable android Nardole reminds him of an oath he has taken to guard the contents of a mysterious vault.
Part 2 is to be released on 17th July and will include episodes 7-12 (The Pyramid at the End of the World, The Lie of the Land, The Empress of Mars, The Eaters of Light, World Enough and Time, and The Doctor Falls).
The Doctor’s travels bring him face-to-face with Ice Warriors and Cybermen. His adventures draw to a terrifying conclusion as a long lost face from the past returns.
Both Parts will also include six exclusive art cards which are themed to each episode.
Bonus material for both Parts 1 and 2 will include an ‘Inside Look’ feature for each of the twelve episodes. The episodic features will include behind the scenes footage, cast interviews, and the inside story.
Full details of bonus material for the Complete Series 10 DVD and Blu-ray will be announced at a later date but we’re told it will include the Binaural Sound edition of Knock Knock, giving ‘an immersive spatial sound experience’ for headphone listeners. No details yet as to whether the art cards from the earlier releases will be included in the set but don’t bank on it.
