This Christmas Eve, the new Doctor Jodie Whittaker will be hosting a special festive show on BBC Radio 6.
Over the festive period, BBC Radio 6 will be airing three special shows airing under the name Three Wise Women with, as the name suggests, a different female presenter curating their own playlist from the 6 Music archive from 6pm to 2am on consecutive nights over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The episodes will be based around a specific theme.
The Thirteenth Doctor is up first and her playlist revolves around the theme of travel.
Whittaker, who is a big fan of the station, said:
“I’m absolutely over the moon to be asked to be a part of this year’s three Wise Women. I’ve never been called a wise woman before, but I’ll take it! Maybe even print up a t-shirt!
“It’s been brilliant revisiting shows that I loved listening to the first-time round and also getting to choose two hours’ worth of my favourite tracks, most of which I discovered through listening to 6 Music. So thanks for that, and hope you enjoy it.”
The other hosts are pop singer Beth Ditto and actress/writer Sharon Horgan.
Of course, that’s not Whittaker’s only Christmas engagement. There’s the small matter of the Twelfth Doctor’s regeneration where Whittaker will make her debut as the Thirteenth Doctor in this year’s Christmas special, Twice Upon a Time, which airs on BBC One on Christmas Day.
You can listen to Jodie Whittaker’s playlist from 6pm Christmas Eve on BBC 6 Music.
