As much as we might like to hear that Peter Capaldi is returning to the role of the Doctor, so far as anyone knows he isn’t. This said, there is some great news that one of the regulars from his era will be featuring on an upcoming Big Finish release – Samuel Anderson – who played Clara’s ill-fated boyfriend, Danny Pink.
The release in question is the first volume of The Twelfth Doctor Chronicles, a 4-story boxset that will see voice impersonator Jacob Dudman fill in for Capaldi as the Doctor.
Dudman has already previously played the Twelfth Doctor in the Big Finish Short Trips adventure, Dead Media, as well as both the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors in a number of previous releases.
Samuel Anderson will be appearing in the second episode of the upcoming boxset, War Wounds by Mark Wright – who often writes with Cavan Scott, and co-created recurring audio villains, the Forge.
The boxset is described as being “narrated by” Jacob Dudman, so it will presumably be another enhanced audiobook, with Anderson performing all of Danny Pink’s dialogue.
Also featured in the set will be The Charge of the Night Brigade by David Llewellyn, Distant Voices by Lizbeth Myles, and Field Trip by Una McCormack. Field Trip will also feature the return of Ingrid Oliver as Osgood. The cast list is completed with Emily Redpath, who has no previous Doctor Who credits, and will be playing Cameron and Female Commander.
The Twelfth Doctor Chronicles (Volume 1) will be released in February 2020 from £19.99, and is available to pre-order now.
