Tenth Doctor, David Tennant will reprise his role as Lauren the Schoolgirl’s teacher in an upcoming sketch for the BBC’s Big Night In – and yes, Catherine Tate is back as Lauren too!
Lauren was part of The Catherine Tate Show, a sketch programme which famously also featured Tate’s loud-mouthed Nan. Tennant played Lauren’s new English teacher in a special insert for Comic Relief in 2007. They’re returning for a scene filmed for Big Night In, a fundraiser which joins together Comic Relief and Children in Need for one night only in an effort to give emergency support to certain projects in the UK during the Coronavisu pandemic.

Since then, of course, Tate came back to Doctor Who as a full-time companion (Donna Noble) to Tennant’s Tenth Doctor.
In the new sketch, Tennant will attempt to teach remotely, while self-isolating…
The Big Night In will be presented by Matt Baker (Aliens of London), Zoe Ball (Doctor Who Live), Lenny Henry (Spyfall), Davina McCall (Bad Wolf), and Paddy McGuinness.
The Big Night In airs on Thursday 23rd April at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
