As the 57th anniversary of Doctor Who, 23rd November 2020 seems like the perfect time for the BBC to release a trailer for the upcoming festive special, Revolution of the Daleks. Now there’s added expectation after it was announced that the BBC would be celebrating “Doctor Who Day” with an official rewatch of The Timeless Children.
The Series 12 finale ended with a cliffhanger which will be resolved (well, we think!) in the next episode, which will air sometime over the holiday period. It’s a fair conclusion to think that we’ll see a teaser for Revolution of the Daleks – although we should point out that trailers aren’t typically released for any programmes particularly far in advance. But hey, Doctor Who fans are ravenous beasts always wanting more, more, more…
Unofficial rewatches have been organised by Emily Cook (Doctor Who Magazine) since the UK’s first lockdown earlier this year, but the BBC asked her not to do any featuring the Thirteenth Doctor, apparently so they could do the rewatch of The Timeless Children. (Nonetheless, it’s churlish for them to stop her organising a rewatch of better Thirteenth Doctor episodes like The Witchfinders, Rosa, and Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror.)
It’s a curious choice of story considering how controversial it is. Read the room, Beeb!
If you’d like to take part, you just need to start the episode at 7pm (GMT) on 23rd November 2020 and tweet along!
