The BBC has revealed the costume that Ncuti Gatwa will wear as the Fifteenth Doctor, alongside a look at the sorts of clothes Millie Gibson will sport as new companion, Ruby Sunday.
Feast your eyes!
The Doctor’s new outfit might not be as eccentric as you might expect — certainly not as much as the Eleventh and Thirteenth Doctors — but thinking back to the Ninth and Tenth Doctors, new/old showrunner, Russell T Davies, seems to favour a more grounded approach.
And Ncuti’s look does echo something of the First and Third Doctors.
Both the Doctor and Ruby have a similar taste in boots too!
They look great together, don’t they? Bet Millie was freezing in those shorts though…
The BBC has also confirmed:
“The Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, will then take control of the TARDIS, with his first episode airing over the festive period in 2023.”
So Ncuti’s first full episode will be the Christmas Day 2023 special!
We expect to hear a lot more about the Doctor’s new look very soon, so it’ll be interesting to know how much say Gatwa’s had in the Time Lord’s style choices.
Including: the moustache. It appears we have our first Doctor to have a moustache on a regular basis (although previous Doctors, including the Fourth and Eleventh, have sported facial hair for an adventure or two). Okay, our first regular Doctor: the War Doctor had a beard and moustache, but he only appeared in three stories (including a flashback).
For now: we have our new TARDIS team, suited and booted and ready for adventures in all of time and space. What do we think, DWC readers?
