Entertainment Weekly has released some new photos from the upcoming Doctor Who 60th anniversary episodes.

The specials feature David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and Catherine Tate returning as Donna Noble, and as such, we get a new glimpse of them together, plus the Doctor emerging from a TARDIS that’s billowing out smoke, as if on fire. We also see Neil Patrick Harris as a smart-looking as-yet-unnamed foe, dancing around as seen during on-location filming in Bristol, in the South West of England; and Beep the Meep seemingly hiding amid a collection of stuffed plush toys.

Harris’ character is likely to appear in the third of the 60th anniversary episode, The Giggle, while Beep is probably going to be in the TV counterpart of his comic book debut story, The Star Beast.

So how does Tennant feel about coming back? He says:

“Oh, joyous. Just an unexpected treat to get to revisit something that had been such a lovely wonderful experience 15 years ago. To get to have another proper runaround, in an albeit slightly different long coat, was a joy I never really imagined.”

The three episodes, written by new/old showrunner, Russell T Davies, are expected to air in November (directed by Chanya Button, Tom Kingsley, and Heaven Sent‘s Rachel Talalay), before Series 14 begins, with Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor, in Spring 2024.
