Cast and Trailer Revealed for Doctor Who: 73 Yards

Want a first look at the next episode of Doctor Who Series 14? The BBC has given us a glimpse of the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) adventuring in a terrifying place called Wales.

Yes, this is 73 Yards, which showrunner and writer, Russell T Davies, describes as one of the best things he’s ever written. Astonishingly, however, it appears that this is a Doctor-lite episode, akin to Boom Town, Turn Left, and Blink

And there’s who’s in 73 Yards:

  • The Doctor: Ncuti Gatwa
  • Ruby Sunday: Millie Gibson
  • Enid Meadows: Siân Phillips
  • Roger ap Gwilliam: Aneurin Barnard
  • Lowri Palin: Maxine Evans
  • The Woman: Hilary Hobson
  • Hiker: Susan Twist
  • Joshua Steele: Sion Pritchard
  • Ifor Jones: Gwion Morris Jones
  • Thin Lucy: Elan Davies
  • Eddie Jones: Glyn Pritchard

Yep, Susan Twist is back again!

Unannounced but likely to appear, too, is Jemma Redgrave as UNIT’s Scientific Officer Kate Stewart, presumably alongside UNIT itself.

The vibes from the trailer are akin to Image of the Fendahl and The Stones of Blood, and there’s certainly talk of witchcraft. We’re also reminded of some episodes of Torchwood, though it’s safe to say 73 Yards won’t be a sex and violence fest.

Directed by Dylan Holmes Williams, 73 Yards will be available on iPlayer and Disney+ on Saturday 25th May 2024, and will air on BBC1 later that day too.
