Doctor Who showrunner, Russell T Davies, has confirmed that the next season of the show, Series 15 but sometimes known as Season 2, will conclude with a two-part “epic”.
In the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, Davies says:
“[Episode 7 is] still at an early stage, only just had the edit signed off and locked. Lots of work to come, with a brilliant guest star and revelations galore! But this is an epic…”
He then moves onto talking about Episode 8, explaining:
“… and this is an epic continued! The edit is still wide open, we’re still finessing key sequences, but it’s all been planned, we have time to space.”
This isn’t entirely a shock. Davies is used to concluding his seasons with multi-part adventures; indeed, while Series 1 and 2 both had two-part finales, Series 3 and 4 muddied the waters with potential three-part stories, depending on how you view Utopia and Turn Left.
And Series 14 ended with the two-parter, The Legend of Ruby Sunday/ Empire of Death!
Series 15 will be Ncuti Gatwa’s second season as the Fifteenth Doctor, returning with Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday. They’ll be joined by a new companion, Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu (Andor).
Davies also teases a special secret project they’re working on alongside Doctor Who and The War Between the Land and the Sea. We reckon another spin-off is the most likely thing…
Doctor Who Series 15 will air in early 2025. Before then, we have a Christmas special, Joy to the World, expected to screen on 25th December 2024. The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine is out now, and as ever, we encourage you to support print magazines by picking up a copy!
