The BBC has teased new Doctor Who content to be released on 23rd November 2024 — although it won’t be a new episode.
Instead, it’ll be deleted scenes from Doctor Who Series 14, teased with a brief clip of Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) speaking to the TARDIS in 73 Yards.
We don’t know what these deleted scenes will entail, but it’ll nonetheless be interesting to see new sequences with Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor, especially as, even though he’s been in an entire (shortened) season, it feels like we’re still getting to know this incarnation. The clip from 73 Yards is also really lovely, with Ruby asking the TARDIS to please not leave without her; and it doesn’t, although that’s because the Doctor’s vanished from existence so the ship waits patiently for him on the edge of a cliff in Wales.
Similarly, we don’t know where the scenes will be shared for certain, but the best bet is social media, as that’s when the 73 Yards scene was added, on 9th November 2024, the actual day the scene is set.
It begs the questions, why weren’t these scenes released as special features on the Series 14 DVD and Blu-ray releases?!
And you have to wonder how many small intimate moments like the one shared with Ruby were cut for time, but which would’ve added a lot of nice little details to the season and to the characters.
I guess we’ll find out on 23rd November!
Doctor Who Series 14 is out on DVD, Blu-ray, and steelbook now.
