Freddie Fox will be a guest star in the next series of Doctor Who.
Fox will play “a fearsome villain from another planet” in an episode with the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and new companion, Belinda Chandra, (Varada Sethu). He’s one of numerous Fox family members who are actors, including his sister, Emilia (Silent Witness); father, Edward (The Day of the Jackal); and cousin, James (A Passage to India).
Freddie himself made his on-screen debut in 2009, and has since appeared in The Crown, Slow Horses, and House of the Dragon. He also appeared in Russell T Davies’ Channel 4 dramas, Cucumber and Banana.
Davies, the current Doctor Who showrunner, said:
“It’s been 10 years since I worked with Freddie on Cucumber, and this is a great way to celebrate the anniversary. He’s the most spectacular actor, and he comes to Doctor Who with fury, venom, cunning and a beautiful set of horns. Doctor beware!”
Freddie Fox said:
“I had the most amazing time making this show and feel honoured to have been asked to be a part of Russell’s crazy, bonkers, beautiful vision. Added to which, sharing space with the iconic Doctor that is Ncuti Gatwa was special beyond imagining. If audiences enjoy watching it half as much as I did making it, televisions are on course to explode right across the world!”
Doctor Who Series 15 will begin on 12th April 2025 on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer; the season will also be available to stream worldwide on Disney+.
