The Doctor Who Companion Turns 10 Years Old Today

The Doctor Who Companion turns a decade old today (26th March 2026)!

That’s 10 whole years since our official launch, a day that we picked to tie into the broadcast of Rose, which brought Doctor Who back for the 21st Century.

Since then, we’ve published over 4,400 articles — a mix of news, reviews, features, fiction, and freebies, created by a menagerie of amazing, talented folk. And of course, all supported by the ever-growing community, many of whom contribute further in our comments sections.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this site in any way across the last decade, whether that be in comments, articles, images, feedback, article ideas, tech support, or anything else. You’ve made the DWC what it is today.

The DWC began life back on another Doctor Who site, Kasterborous; however, when that was sold on, the majority of us were looking to create a new space to talk about Who, related topics and spin-offs, and explore our creative pursuits. So here we are, and we’ve been doing just that, almost every day, for 10 years. (I say “almost” as we had some hosting problems a few years ago and experienced a bit of annoying downtime… and I don’t mean that tie-in story with the Yeti, Victoria, and the Brigadier).

It’s quite amazing, really: ten years is a loooooong time, especially online, and especially when times have been so turbulent.

So we’re celebrating in style. In fact, we’re celebrating across the whole of 2026.

Yes, we’re starting some series that will carry us along this entire year.

First up, we’re launching a series of special one-sentence reviews — articles taking into account every single Doctor Who TV story, beginning with the First Doctor era. It’s a fun way to re-evaluate serials and get us all talking about something that we adore.

Obviously, we’ll also be reviewing the newly-found episodes of The Daleks’ Master Plan.

Then we’ve got numerous features that look at the past decade of Doctor Who; what’s changed, what’s the same, what the future might hold.

And further features take into account the complete history of Doctor Who.

We’re also stressing the importance of the companions in Who.

Plus, we’re giving away plenty more freebies.

That’s all alongside our usual mix of news and reviews!

These run throughout 2026, meaning readers can expect a lot of cool stuff over the next nine months — and beyond.

And don’t forget that, as part of our anniversary celebrations, not only have we added the new “Free Stuff!” section, accessible at the top of every page and including a range of freebie like book extracts, short stories, and audio, but we’ve also launched a Substack. This is an extension of the DWC’s main site, meaning we can deliver articles old and new to your Substack app and/or email Inbox.

The Doctor Who Companion is now 10 years old… and we’re only just beginning.
