An Introduction to The Lie of the Land

Bill Potts has made a big decision – to give the Doctor his eyesight back and therefore save his life. Now, a price has been paid.
Toby Whithouse’s The Lie of the Land premieres later today, and is the final part in the so-called “Monk Trilogy”, which began with Extremis and continued with last week’s The Pyramid at the End of the World. Here’s what it’s about:

The world is gripped by a mass delusion and only Bill Potts can see the truth. When even the Doctor is fighting on the wrong side, it’s up to Bill to convince the Time Lord that humanity is in deadly danger. And if she can’t do that, she may just have to kill her best friend…

The episode is directed by Wayne Yip, a newcomer to Doctor Who but we’ve seen his work on Class last year. Here’s Steven Moffat’s introduction, plus a lovely preview…

And in case that hasn’t whet your appetite enough, check out this image gallery, including Michelle Gomez as Missy, and Doc Martin‘s Stewart Wright as Alan.

The Lie of the Land airs on BBC One tonight at 7:35pm.
